Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVE SPIWAK Steve Spiwak passed away at age 81 on Good Friday, April 6, 2007. Steve was born in Hazelridge, Manitoba on January 1, 1926. Steve, known as SS , worked for the CN Railway as a train dispatcher. Upon leaving CN he had a few ventures to keep busy. He was the proprietor of a hotel in Wapella, SK, moved back to Winnipeg and was the proprietor of the Niakwa Bowling Alley, then was a partner of La Broquerie Hotel. Steve built a home on Lake of the Woods where he lived for a number of years with his dog Ringo, prior to returning to Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Anna (Slota), and is survived by his sister Eileen Kasian (Paul), nephew Brent Kasian, niece Janina Goldenstein (David), great-nephews, Robert and Michael Goldenstein and many cousins. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 16 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe Avenue at Watt Street with Fr. Michael Winn officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be cousins, John Slota, Nick Spewak, Ron Dureski, Dr. Greg Palaschuk, along with Brent Kasian and David Goldenstein. We would like to thank the doctors and hospital staff of the Grace Hospital for their care, kindness and understanding, and a special thank you to Dr. Brent Zabalotny.
